What data Seekano collects when you browse, search and save profiles, why we use it, how long we keep it and how you control it.
Who we are
Seekano (seekano.com) is an independent directory of creator profiles in English and Spanish. This policy explains what personal data we process when you browse the site, sign in or send us a request, and what choices you have.
It does not cover the sites we link to: once you leave Seekano, their own privacy policies apply.
What we collect when you browse
When you open a page, your browser sends the technical information every website receives: the page address, your IP address, and your browser type and language. Our servers and our network provider use it to deliver the page, estimate your country and block automated abuse. We do not keep your IP address with your usage data or your account.
Every response has a random request ID. If something breaks, it helps us find the error in our logs.
Cookies and browser storage
Seekano uses only the cookies it needs to work. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party tracking cookies.
- seekano_age_ok remembers that you confirmed you are 18 or older (1 year).
- seekano_consent remembers your privacy choice (1 year).
- seekano_session keeps you signed in, and seekano_csrf protects your actions from forgery (up to 30 days).
Your browser also keeps a few things on your device only: your theme, the profiles you saved without signing in and, if usage analytics is on, a random analytics ID (see “Usage analytics”).
Location and Near
Near works with a city you choose or with your approximate position. If you let your browser share your location, the position is rounded to about one kilometer on your device before it is sent. We use it only to find profiles for that request: it is not stored, not added to the page address and not recorded in analytics.
Accounts and saved profiles
Signing in is optional; without an account, your saves stay in this browser. Sign-in is handled by an identity provider, so we never see your password.
For an account we keep the ID the provider gives us, your e-mail address in hashed form (we cannot read it back), your interface language, the time of your last sign-in, and the profiles you saved or skipped.
Usage analytics
We measure how Seekano is used to improve search and recommendations, keep the site fast and protect it from fraud and bots. We run this analytics on our own servers; no third-party analytics or advertising service receives it.
- What we record: the pages you open, your searches (with e-mail addresses, links and phone numbers removed) and how you use lists and profiles, such as clicks, saves and swipes.
- What comes with it: a random ID stored in your browser (not a cookie), your language, country, device type and browser.
- What we never record: your IP address, your e-mail address, your precise location or anything you type other than searches.
We use this data only to understand what works and to improve Seekano. It is never sold or used for advertising.
Your privacy choices
- In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, and whenever we cannot tell your country, usage analytics stays off until you choose “Accept all”.
- Elsewhere it is on by default, and you can turn it off at any time.
- If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as an opt-out and collect no usage analytics.
You can change your choice at any time under “Privacy choices” at the bottom of the page, on the You page or right below this policy. “Delete my usage data” erases the analytics recorded for your browser.
Partner links
When you follow a link to another site, we count the click without recording who you are or your IP address. The site you go to can see that you came from Seekano and handles your data under its own policy.
Removal requests and messages
When you send a removal request or write to us, we use your e-mail address, your name if you give it and your message only to handle the request and reply to you. Only our moderators can see them.
Service providers
We use a few providers to run Seekano: hosting, a content delivery and security network, an identity provider for signing in, and a map provider for the map in Near. Each of them processes data only to provide its service to us.
Our servers are in the United States. We do not sell personal data and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How long we keep data
- Age and privacy-choice cookies: 1 year.
- Sign-in session: up to 30 days.
- Account and saved profiles: until you remove them or ask us to delete the account.
- Usage analytics: raw events for 13 months and session summaries for 25 months. Daily totals without any ID can be kept longer.
- Removal requests and messages: as long as we need to handle them and keep a record of the decision.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, for example under the GDPR in Europe or US state privacy laws such as the CCPA, you can ask us to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict how we use it. Using these rights never changes how Seekano treats you.
Write to [email protected]. To find your account we may ask for its e-mail address. For usage analytics, “Delete my usage data” under Privacy choices works straight away. We answer within 30 days, and you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, we rely on your consent for usage analytics, on providing the service you asked for to run your account and saves, and on our legitimate interest in keeping Seekano secure and working for technical data.
If a profile page on Seekano is about you, you can have it corrected or removed through the removal form.
Children
Seekano is only for adults. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you think a minor uses Seekano or appears on it, tell us through the removal form or at [email protected], and we will act immediately.
Changes and contact
When we change this policy, we update the date at the top of the page. If a change affects how we use data you have already given us, we will say so on the site before it takes effect.
Questions about privacy: [email protected].
Privacy choices
Choose what Seekano may use besides what it needs to work. You can change this later on the You page.
